Troubleshooting common issues with Review Tap Cards

While Review Tap Cards should be compatible with the majority of devices, there may be an instance in which you or your customer finds that the tap card link is not pulling up when the phone taps the card. Here are some common reasons why that may occur:

Phone Incompatibility

This should not be a common issue as NFC technology (the "tap" technology that powers our Review Tap Cards), is now standard issue on a majority of phones. However, if your customer has a much older or non-standard device, their phone may simply not be compatible with the tap card technology. This list contains all NFC-compatible devices and it is an extensive list.

NFC Setting is Turned Off on the Device

Some phones require that the owner enable the NFC "tap" setting on their device. This typically comes enabled on most newer phones, but if the tap card isn't working for a specific device, the user should check to make sure they have NFC enabled.

Enable NFC on iPhones

  • Go to the "Settings" app on your iPhone.

  • Scroll down and tap on "Wallet & Apple Pay."

  • On the "Wallet & Apple Pay" screen, you'll see an option to turn on "NFC Scanning or NFC tag reader." Toggle this switch to the "On" position.

Enable NFC on Android

  • Swipe down from the top of the screen and go to your device’s settings, typically indicated with a Gear Icon.

  • Go to Connected Devices.

  • Click "Connection Preferences", then "NFC". Toggle "Use NFC" to the "On" position.

Issue with Placement of Phone on Card

If you've confirmed the device is NFC compatible and NFC is enabled on the device, make sure the phone is tapping the card in the right place. NFC is designed to work by scanning the card with the phone. Each phone has an NFC scanner chip embedded - the location of this chip can be different on every phone.

Typically it will be on the back or on the top of the phone, but it is usually NOT on the front/screen. So you should ensure you are tapping the back of the phone to the card, not tapping the card to the front of the phone.
